NAHO 2013 Annual Professional Development Conference:

Twin Tracks in the Twin Cities: Basic and Advanced Training for Hearing Officials

September 15 – 18, 2013
Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel ● St. Paul, Minnesota

Mark your calendars!!! Our 2013 Conference will held be in Minnesota’s capital city of St. Paul this fall at the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel. A wonderful conference facility and location, the setting takes advantage of the rich history and contemporary culture of downtown St. Paul. The majority of the hotel rooms have a Mississippi River view and there is plenty to do and see in the area. Special events are being planned -- you will enjoy your time in St. Paul!

Since we will be in the “Twin Cities,” the Conference will feature two tracks of courses for all attendees. Track 1 will feature courses covering general areas of administrative hearings practice.  Track 2 courses pertain to particular specialized subjects, and in addition, in order to accommodate attendees from our host state, some courses will center on Minnesota law and administrative practices.

Here is just a sample of the sessions being planned.

  • Building an Administrative Record
  • Federal and State Health Care Exchanges & Administrative Appeals
  • Developing Effective Listening
  • Being an Effective Settlement Judge
  • Qualifications and Assessment of Expert Opinions
  • Uses and Limits of Lay Opinions
  • Providing Due Process
  •  Best Practices in Interviewing the Abused Child
  • Writing a Better Decision
  • Ruling on Objections

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from experts and share information and insights with others involved in the administrative hearing process. Fall is a beautiful time of year in Minnesota. Come join us! Watch this web site for more information as planning progresses.
